Equilibrium.

Equilibrium is a word used to describe the normal or natural order of things in a narrative.
Typically, in most films eqilibrium is disturbed which creates an order like this:

Equlibirum - everything is normal and in balance.
Dis-equilibrium - order is disturbed, some bad happens and it is usually over come.
New state of equibrium - once the disruption is over, everything goes back to normal with perhaps or two differences.

However, in episodic narratives eqiulibirum usually isn't restored until the end of the series, so that order usually has an extra step with is another dis-equilbrium as episodes such as '24' usually end in cliffhangers.
